Georgia vs Uruguay Live Stream :: The Uruguay’s shock win over Fiji at the Rugby World Cup triggered unprecedented reactions back home in a country where football is king and the majority of its rugby players are non-professionals.
The South American minnows pulled off the greatest upset in their history on Wednesday as they stunned Fiji 30-27 in Kamaishi, catapulting rugby to the top of the news in Uruguay.
World champions in football in 1930 and 1950, it was just Uruguay’s third Rugby World Cup win in four tournaments, after victories over Spain in 1999 and against Georgia in 2003.
And it’s Georgia they face next. Some might even call it a grudge match, especially since the South Americans are still considered underdogs.

Uruguay’s captain Juan Gaminara broke down in tears at the end of the game, saying: “We are not the biggest, we are not the tallest but we came here to win.”
“Since we qualified, we have been thinking about this game and you saw the passion. I’m really proud,” added Gaminara, whose squad contains several players with semi-professional status.
Despite giving away nearly 10 kilos a man in the pack, Uruguay competed up front and harried the Fijians out wide, rushing them into a litany of handling errors.
They took a deserved 24-12 lead into half-time and benefited from some extraordinary misses from the tee by Josh Matavesi, including some that seemed a formality

Georgia vs Uruguay Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips
In a clash of the minnows, Georgia face Uruguay in the 2019 Rugby World Cup at the Kumagaya Rugby Stadium. Uruguay are on a high after beating the much fancied Fijians in their opening match but they only have three days before they face the physical Georgians.
Georgian inside centre Lasha Malaguradze will start against Uruguay and with 38 international tries to his name I am backing him in the anytime try-scorer market at 3.10.
Georgia Form & Team News
Georgia suffered a 43-14 defeat in their World Cup opener against Wales at the Toyota Stadium. It was a competitive showing from the Georgians especially in the second half where they drew the second half 14-all.
This match against Uruguay was always the one Georgia targeted for victory along with their upcoming fixture against Fiji. Having played on Monday, Georgia coach Milton Haig has made 12 changes to keep his side fresh. Fortunately he has plenty of experience and quality to call on throughout the squad.
While Fiji are rightly considered stronger than Georgia the Europeans will be a far tougher nut to crack. They don’t play an expansive game, are reliant on forward dominance and take full advantage of scrums and line-outs.
Georgian veteran Lasha Malaguradze will start at inside centre this week. He has been a standout player for them since his debut in 2008 with 38 tries in 92 appearances. I am tipping him in the anytime try-scorer market at 3.10.
My best bet tip is for Georgia to cover the -16 handicap at 1.90. They are priced at 1.08 for the win while a draw will pay 41.00.
Uruguay Form & Team News
According to reports Uruguay have no serious injury concerns after their magnificent 30-27 victory over Fiji at the Kamaishi Recovery Memorial Stadium. That victory will go down as one of the great World Cup upsets but can they repeat that performance?
Uruguay still only have 18 professional players in their squad and with only three days without a match before Georgia come to town I feel that another upset is a bridge too far. The bookmakers agree valuing the South Americans at 7.50 to cause another shock.

Some may find value in Uruguay to overcome the +16 handicap but I feel their turnaround time will cost them. Should head coach Esteban Meneses go with the same team they will no doubt run out of steam later in the match.
Scrumhalf Santiago Arata was magnificent against Fiji and should retain his place while loose-forward Manuel Diana will be a popular choice in the anytime try-scorer market.
Georgia vs Uruguay Head to Head
Georgia and Uruguay have played each other on five occasions with the Europeans edging the head-to-head with three wins. Their last match was at the 2003 Rugby World Cup where Uruguay won 24-12 in Sydney. Georgian rugby has however grown substantially since then.
Georgia vs Uruguay Betting Odds
Georgia are massive favourites at 1.08 which carries no value. This brings the handicap market into play where Georgia can be backed in the -16 handicap market at 1.90 and at 3.10 to cover -27.
Despite their shock victory Uruguay go into this clash as huge underdogs at 7.50 to win and a draw will pay 41.00. In the handicap market Georgia can be backed at 1.90 to cover the +16 handicap.
Georgia vs Uruguay Match Up
Expect a brutal encounter between the two forward packs while the back-line spends most of the day watching. This match will have many set pieces so whoever can dominate that area will be the one who comes out on top.
